Mission

The Children’s Caucus stands as a strong voice of awareness and advocacy for North Dakota’s children.

History

Since 1986, the Children’s Caucus has brought together child welfare advocates and concerned citizens to educate, inform and encourage public debate about issues facing children. The Caucus was formed to involve North Dakota citizens in improving the lives of children and continues to work as a united force on behalf of children and families.

In 2008, we are furthering the development of a state-wide child advocate network, working with policy makers to improve children’s lives, disseminating advocacy tools, and enriching the community's awareness of children’s issues.

Focus Areas

- Ensure that all families have access to high-quality developmentally-appropriate early childhood care and education programs.

- Promote the healthy development of all children.

- Support a juvenile justice system.

- Ensure children are safe in their homes and communities from all forms of abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence.

Building Awareness

The Children’s Caucus takes an active role in educating its membership, the general public and policy makers by:

- Building a statewide network of organizations and individuals interested in giving a stronger voice to children’s issues through collaboration.

- Providing leadership among partners through advocacy work on both state and national levels.

- Convening and informing partners of legislative action and policy development through timely email alerts and conference calls.
